Finance, construct, operate, and maintain a hospital for the Royal Free Hospital London NHS Foundation Trust

The Barnet General Hospital project is a 33 year concession to finance, construct, operate, and maintain the re-building of Barnet General Hospital in North London for the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Barnet Hospital Project Limited, a joint venture company formed by Bouygues (UK) Limited and ETDE – both subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction S.A – was responsible for the hospital’s design and construction.

Financial close occurred in February 1999. The project involved capital expenditure of approximately £65 million. Construction of a new hospital block was completed in March 2002.

The hospital was reopened in February 2003 by HRH The Princess Royal. Another subsidiary of Bouygues Construction S.A., Equans, is responsible for maintenance and Soft FM is provided by the Compass Group. Medical imaging equipment, together with new IT and telecommunications, was installed by Siemens Healthineers Limited.
