Finance, construct, operate, and maintain six secondary schools and two primary schools for Edinburgh City Council

The Edinburgh Schools 2 PPP project is a 31 year concession to finance, construct, operate, and maintain six secondary and two primary schools, on behalf of Edinburgh City Council.

The new schools are located on seven sites in and around Edinburgh and have capacity for 6,580 pupils (including 80 nursery, 800 primary and 5,700 secondary places) and have a built up area of 97,000 sqm.

Financial close occurred in April 2007. The schools were constructed between 2007 and 2010 by Laing O’Rourke, under a £165 million fixed-price construction contract.

The sites have been operational since between November 2008 and January 2010. Mitie PFI Limited provides both the Hard and Soft FM services and lifecycle obligations to the project.
