Finance, construct/refurbish, operate, and maintain over 50 buildings and five training areas for the Ministry of Defence

The Royal School of Military Engineering PPP project is a 30 year concession to finance, construct/refurbish, operate, and maintain 32 new and 21 existing buildings, and five training areas across three UK locations, on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence (‘MoD’) (which supports the Royal School of Military Engineering).

The project reached financial close in August 2008 and construction, which was carried out under a seven year phased programme, was undertaken by subsidiaries of Carillion plc.

The project had total construction costs of approximately £300 million.

Final construction works occured in early 2015. The project involves the provision of Hard and Soft FM, as well as specialist training, and training support services, provided by subsidiaries of Babcock International Group. Certain elements of the Soft FM services are subcontracted to ESS Limited, and certain elements of training are subcontracted to TQ Education and Mid Kent College.
